Children in Worship Pre-school Child Care is provided during our worship service. Children at the elementary school level attend the first portion of the service through the Children's Sermon then they proceed to Sunday School. Normally, the Sacrament of Communion is observed on the first Sunday of each month. On Communion Sundays, children remain in the service following the Children's Sermon and are provided with activity bags.
Music Anaheim First Presbyterian Church has a long history of excellence in our music ministry. Organist Susan Talevich inspires and amazes us with her skilled mastery of the pipe organ and piano accompaniments. Many of our worshipers remain seated in the pews at the conclusion of each service allowing Susan's heartfelt renditions to complete their worship experience. The adult Chancel Choir is directed by Orange County's music icon, Sheldon Disrud. The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings with vocal warm-ups beginning at 7:20 p.m. Sheldon's Directorships have included several local colleges, community choruses, the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, and special events at both Disneyland and Radio City Music Hall in NYC. His deep faith shines through from the twinkle in his eyes to the challenge he puts to each choir member to make the text of each song come alive with God's spirit. Whether new to choral singing or a seasoned performer, new members are always welcomed and appreciated. The youth choir is directed by Kathy Wagner whose special ability to connect with young people and inspire them to become talented musicians is a huge asset to our congregation. The Chapel Choir (Jr. and Sr. high) rehearses on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. Growing up in our midst, Kathy's talents were shared early on as an accompanist to the choirs she would eventually direct. As part of a very musical family, the congregation has enjoyed the Wagner clan's talents ranging from classical Bach to folksy jug bands at church dinners. Kathy welcomes all youth who are interested in praising the Lord with their joyful voices. Jackie Myhre administers the Chancel Choir Scrip Fundraising Program.
