2008 Season

Little Women
by Marion De Forest
Dramatized from the novel by Louisa May Alcott

April 11-13M, 18, 19D,25-27M

This is the much-beloved story of four girls growing to adulthood in 19th-century New England. The girls are faced with the prospect of a dreary Christmas the year their father is away at war. Money is tight, and what they do have the family shares with their even poorer neighbors. The girls all experience social triumphs and disasters as they try to find their place in the world. But the girls are resourceful, and they can never be really poor when they have each other.

The Importance of
Being Earnest

by Oscar Wilde
(see also Flyer)

July 18-20M, 25,26D, Aug. 1-3M

In this light-hearted satire, Jack Worthing lives in the country with his pretty ward Cecily Cardew, but in the city, he goes by the name Ernest and is in love with Gwendolyn Fairfax. Miss Fairfax's cousin, is Algernon Moncrieff, who, also using the name Ernest, goes to the country and falls in love with Jack's ward Cecily. When they all come together, we have two men who claim to be Ernest and aren't, and two girls who are in love with men named Earnest who aren't Earnest.

Bus Stop
By William Inge

Sept 26-28M, Oct 3,4D, 10-12M

During a howling snowstorm, a busload of weary travelers must hole up at a roadside diner until morning. A nightclub singer named Cherie has been kidnapped by a young cowboy who is ready to sling her over his shoulder and carry her, kicking and screaming, down the aisle. Overnight, the cafe owner and the bus driver explore a long-overdue friendship, a middle-aged scholar faces his past, and a small-town girl gets her first taste of romance.
